What

Collaboration between 19 academic and industry partners to redefine occupational profiles and introduce innovative learning outcomes-based curricula in vocational education and training (VET).

Who is it for

Learners (EQF 4-7), education and training providers or human resource managers from SMEs and large companies.

How

  • Design and implementation of the Microelectronics Skills Strategy
  • Development of demand-driven curriculum and training programme
  • Testing and validation of the trainings involving of 900 learners and 200 VET providers
  • Establishment of the Observatory & Skills Council for sustaining the projects results and yearly monitoring and update for the sector
  • Get acquainted with the newly designed Skills and Occupational profiles for microelectronics and educational videos already made available by the academic and industry partners

METIS Skills Strategy

METIS developed an evidence-based Strategy, based on assessment and projections of the skills supply and demand. The Strategy provides:

  • Analysis of the demand side;
  • Current skills challenges for employers;
  • Assessment of current supply;
  • Scenario analysis of inter-regional/cross-border mobility;
  • Fit for purpose assessment of education and training provision;
  • Action Plan for implementation of the Strategy: timeline, actionable measures, roles and responsibilities, potential engagement of external stakeholders, expected output and impact, etc.

More about the project

In the European competition for skilled workers, the microelectronics sector in particular is subject to constant change due to the ever-increasing digitisation. In the METIS project - an Erasmus+ programme - 20 international partners from industry and vocational as well as higher education from 14 European countries form a consortium to standardise training and job profiles throughout Europe, to establish current trends and to create the basis for the constantly growing requirements and skills of the future in order to be able to compete in global competition in the long term.
