Cluster strategies for Saxony: European cooperation creating synergies
From result to perspective. These words would summarize the workshop “Cluster strategies for Saxony: European cooperation creating synergies” held in Dresden July 14. The workshop presented results of the “CluStrat” project that led to concrete measures within the project “C3-Saxony”.
Nowadays, successful innovations occur at the borderline of industries and fields of technology application. Both projects deal with the topic from different perspectives and are tied to one another. Especially as this cross innovation approach is represented in the Innovation Strategy of the Land of Saxony, cluster and networks shall create this approach.
In the workshop, the Saxony Economic Development Cooperation (SEDC) presented the activities of the EU-funded project “CluStrat”. The SEDC had been partner of the project consortium for three years. “CluStrat” formulated and implemented strategic advices for cluster management in Saxony and Central Europe for the industries of lightweight construction, active ageing, mechatronics and ICT in cooperation with international partners. “Due to CluStrat, we can formulate advice for future-oriented cluster management as well as generate direct benefits for the Saxon economy”, said Dr. Thomas Richter, Vice President of the department Export Promotion and Cooperation of the SEDC. “Within the project, concrete cooperation developed between Saxon and foreign clusters and networks. Furthermore we have exploited new markets for Saxon enterprises and we have promoted Saxony as center of technology”, Dr. Richter said.
The Saxon State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour and Transport ties up with the EU-funded cross cluster cooperation project “C3-Saxony” as lead partner within the consortium. Further partners are the cluster Silicon Saxony and biosaxony, the TU Dresden and AGIL GmbH Leipzig. C3-Saxony shall generate concrete projects at the borderline of ICT and biotechnology and support innovation. Besides an outlook on the future cooperation of Silicon Saxony and biosaxony, the cross-over membership of both cluster underlines the close cooperation. Innovative project ideas provide great opportunities for Saxon enterprises to occupy future markets.
