Technologie trifft Kunst

Der Cool Silicon Art Award, der 2011 erstmalig ausgelobt wird, möchte einen intensiven Dialog zwischen Kunst, Wissenschaft und Technik initiieren.

 

Nationale und internationale bildende Künstler aller Gattungen sind dazu aufgerufen, sich mit der Vision des Spitzenclusters Cool Silicon künstlerisch auseinanderzusetzen.

 

Cool Silicon Spitzencluster

Cool Silicon ist ein Verbund aus über 60 Unternehmen und Forschungseinrichtungen im Silicon Saxony, die sich in dem Projekt Cool Silicon zusammengeschlossen haben, um in den nächsten Jahren Technologien zu entwickeln, die den Energieverbrauch von Mikrochips und Informationstechnologien deutlich senken sollen.

 

Im Zentrum steht der Konflikt zwischen dem weltweit rapide ansteigenden Energieverbrauch der Informations-und Telekommunikationstechnologie (IKT) und den damit verbundenen klimatisch-globalen Folgen für eine stetig wachsende Weltbevölkerung.

 

Der Cool Silicon Art Award ist mit 10.000 Euro dotiert. Er wird für eine herausragende künstlerische Leistung vergeben und fördert die schöpferische Diskussion und Auseinandersetzung im besonderen Maße.

The very first Cool Silicon Art Award 2011 wants to encourage the intensive dialog between the fields of Art and Technology.

 

National and international artists of all media are called to deal with the topics and the vision of the Leading-Edge Cluster “Cool Silicon” in an artistic way.

In the Leading-Edge Cluster “Cool Silicon”, more than 60 companies, universities, and research institutions focused on research, development and production within the micro- and nanotechnology industry in the high-tech region Silicon Saxony in Saxony, Germany, are working together to limit the worldwide energy consumption by increasing the energy efficiency within the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, thus enabling further technological and social progress.

 

The focus is set on the conflict between the worldwide rapidly increasing energy consumption of the ICT sector and the associated global climatic consequences for a steadily growing world population.

 

The Cool Silicon Art Award is asking for artistic future-bound answers for this global and social relevant topic and is endowed with €10,000.
