Three days full of keynotes, expert sessions, exhibitions and discussions awaited the more than 160 participants from 13 countries at this year's apc|m conference in Villach, Austria. This year's top topics: Digitisation, Big Data and Digital Twin. Read our review here.
SEMICON Taiwan is the most important annual event for the micro- and nanoelectronics industry in Taiwan. The apc|m conference will take place in Villach/Austria from April 8 to 10. This top event of the semiconductor and photovoltaic industry will again be organized by Silicon Saxony e. V. The conference deals with Advanced Process Control and Manufacturing Effectiveness and is organized in close cooperation with Infineon Technologies, which is currently investing 1.6 billion euros in a fully automated chip factory for the production of 300 millimeter wafers at the Villach site. Members of Silicon Saxony e. V. save 10 percent when purchasing the 3-day ticket!
Gold Label for Silicon Saxony
With a total of 97 percent, Saxony's high-tech network once again demonstrated its outstanding European position and was successfully recertified for the third time receiving the Gold Label certification from the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI).

Silicon Saxony since January 1 under new leadership
Since January 1, 2019, Frank Bösenberg now also took over the business management of the Saxon high-tech network. He introduced himself in person during the first Open Office Day on December 13 and stated: "I am looking forward to working closely with our currently 348 members. Together we can and will achieve a lot in future for the location of Saxony and the local high technology. " For the time being, the team from Silicon Saxony e. V. wishes all members a successful start into the new year and looks forward to the upcoming challenges.
A good day for Saxony
On 18 December, the European Commission approved the promotion of microelectronics under an Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI). Now, companies from France, Italy, United Kingdom and Germany can be supported in their research and development activities until the first commercial use of new microelectronic applications. Thus, the way is clear for a subsidy of the Federal Government in the amount of 1 billion euros.
