Time to act: Artificial intelligence for the Saxon economy

Saxony's high-tech industry and, above all, Silicon Saxony e. V. are focusing on the trendy topic of artificial intelligence (AI).  The AI specialists Infineon Technologies (Uwe Gäbler) and Fraunhofer IIS/EAS (Dr. Peter Schneider) are among the leaders of the working group and the AI focus group that was set up at the same time.

Work group and focus group

Within the framework of the working group and with the support of the focus group, AI development in Saxony is to be promoted jointly. The aim is to share and expand the already extensive knowledge at the location and not least in the Silicon Saxony network. The big goal is to pave the way for new business opportunities and to lead Saxony into the top group nationwide in the field of AI.

Players

Infineon Dresden takes over the content management in the field of AI hardware development. Avantgarde Labs and T-Systems MMS complement each other as AI software specialists with a wide range of experience for medium-sized companies. In addition, they work closely with the Dresden Smart Systems Hub, especially in the field of AI/IoT applications. For example, a special KI-Thin(gk)athon is planned for the Dresden hub in June 2019. Co-innovations with customers and partners and beyond will then be sought.

The first meeting of the working group "Artificial Intelligence" on 7 May 2019 was well attended and showed the high interest of the market/location in the topic of AI. One of the absolute highlights was the highly interesting keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Frank Schönefeld (T-Systems MMS) on the current technological state of AI. A successful start, which sends Dresden and its AI actors into an exciting and innovative race in Germany and Europe.
