New member!

The Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden – in short IFW Dresden – is a non-university research institute and a member of the Leibniz Association. It is concerned with modern materials science and combines explorative research in physics, chemistry and materials science with technological development of new materials and products.

IFW Dresden binds together the disciplines of experimental and theoretical condensed matter physics, electrical engineering, materials engineering and to a smaller extent chemistry.

This range of disciplines is reflected in the professorships that the IFW institute directors hold, which are

  • Theoretical Solid State Physics (ITF),
  • Experimental Solid State Physics (IFF),
  • Electrical Engineering & Experimental Physics (IIN), and
  • Materials Science (IKM and IMW).

Out of the initiative "ALD Lab Saxony" we boost our cluster and are looking forward to welcome the IFW Dresden in June 2017 as a new member of Cool Silicon e. V. - the research initiative of Silicon Saxony!
