Silicon Saxony is one of Europe‘s most successful trade association for the semiconductor, electronic, microsystems and software industries. The number of members has risen to more than 300 at present. The association links commercial enterprises, research institutes, universities and colleges.
Our Current Activities
New semiconductor fab in Dresden
Continuing its course of investing heavily in Germany, Bosch is to build a wafer fab in Dresden. To satisfy the demand generated by the growing number of internet of things (IoT) and mobility applications, the new location is to manufacture chips on the basis of 12-inch wafers. Construction of the high-tech plant is to be completed by the end of 2019.
Saxony’s microelectronics and ICT sector on its upswing
On 19 and 20 June, more than 400 decision makers, skilled workers and industry insiders from economy, industry, science, research and politics networked at the DGUV Congress in Dresden. A number of keynotes by renowned speakers and enterprises such as IBM as well as Kuka and Yole took a closer look at the "Hot Topics" of the microelectronics and ICT sector.
Five new members join the board
As of 1 April 2017, five new associated members will strengthen the Executive Board of the Silicon Saxony e.V. In addition to enhancing its professional position, the Silicon Saxony Executive Board also intends to rejuvenate the industry association’s top management.
SEMICON Taiwan is the most important, annual professional event for the micro- and nanoelectronics industry in Taiwan. Together with our partners from Silicon Europe we have reserved a booth space and have worked out an attractive booth concept for the joint and individual company presentation.
Elections to the board
At the Silicon Saxony e.V. AGM on 23 November in Dresden, the members of the high tech trade association confirmed their previous management in office: Prof. Dr. Frank Schönefeld, Gitta Haupold, Heinz Martin Esser and Helmut Warnecke.
Silicon Saxony meets Asia's Silicon Valley
From 31 October to 4 November, a Saxon delegation traveled to the Taiwanese cities of Hsinchu and Tainan for market exploration and for fathoming potential cooperation.
Silicon Saxony successfully presents itself with 26 exhibitors at its booth at SEMICON Europa in Grenoble/France. During the fair SEMI Europe has announced that the next five editions of the SEMICON Europa tradeshow will be held in co-location with productronica and electronica in Munich.
